The availability of Evonik’s non-animal derived amino acids is opening new doors for applications in the cosmetics sector. Amino acids are natural components of skin and hair and can be absorbed when applied in topical formulations.

Their function is widespread. They can be used as repair ingredients for damaged hair or as a protecting agent against environmental factors like UV-irradiation. Amino acids also play a crucial role in moisturizing skin, representing at least 40 percent of the composition of the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF).

We also offer peptides as part of our product portfolio. Peptides have been recognized as an important ingredient with direct correlations to positive effects when contained in cosmetics. The knowledge of the beneficial use in nutrition promotes new cosmetics applications for amino acids, thus making it a field of rapid innovation.
