Parenteral nutrition/infusion

The application of our products in parenteral nutrition (infusion solutions) requires the highest and most stringent quality regimen.

Patients who under go major surgery or those in intensive care are unable to digest food and must be fed by intravenous infusion. The composition of this nutrition has to maintain a well balanced and concentrated diet of the complete amino acid range. High concentrations of nutrients are achieved by introduction of highly soluable amino acid forms, such as acetylated or dipeptide compounds. Because of the high risk of infection for the patient, the microbiological purity, including the strict limits for endotoxins, of all ingredients is essential. As parenteral nutrition ingredients are considered as pharmaceutical actives, the compliance with cGMP and appropriate documentation, such as Drug Master Files, is offered by Evonik.

Evonik has implemented rigid quality procedures that allow customers a safe use of our products in this application. The product groups useful in this area are single L-amino acids, acetylated amino acids and dipeptides, as well as premixed amino acid blends manufactured according to customer specifications.
